Design and Simulation of IoT-Enabled Bang-Bang Controller for Optimizing Vehicle Stopping Distance
Controlling vehicle stopping distance is important in reducing the rate of accidents on the roads. The conventional methods of braking are sometimes slow especially in cases of applying heavy pressure on the brake pedals when the situation on the road is not favourable. In response to these challenges, this paper proposes an IoT-based Bang Bang controller for controlling the stopping distance of a vehicle. The proposed system involves the use of pertinent sensor information, which passes through an IoT platform to adapt the braking force and achieve shorter stopping distance. Thus, a mathematical model is proposed to describe the system behavior and simulations are used to estimate its efficiency. The comparative outcomes proved that there is enhancement in the existing braking performance in comparison to the existing braking systems. Through the IoT system integration the road conditions and the dynamism of the vehicle is constantly assessed, which enhances lasting decision-making on their braking system and manner, as is quick and adaptive. Based on this study, IoT control strategies hold an immense opportunity of increasing the safety of vehicles and could contribute to the development of new intelligent brake systems.
