Digital Twin for Networks - Emulation as a Service (EaaS)

This paper presents Emulation as a Service, a novel approach that runs independently of emulators and network devices and offers remote emulation services for heterogeneous networks. Since, it is impractical to create large-scale network testbeds to conduct real-time experiments, we believe that our solution can be utilized extensively in practice. Different emulators are leveraged to perform emulations for different networks. However, we do not see a unified framework which can provide a common interface between users and various emulators for creating Digital Twin (DT) of communication networks. We present a framework designed to address this issue by offering realistic emulations. Our framework utilizes a si/e-mulator agnostic, microservices-based architecture to provide remote, scalable and on-demand services to the user. It also uses AI/ML algorithms to utilize the generated data for further analytics and provides a prescriptive report to the user.
