A Novel DNA-based Data Storage Simulation Platform with the JPEG Standards
The rapid increase in data production necessitates innovative storage solutions, among which DNA-based data storage stands out due to its exceptional density and longevity. While this technology offers significant advantages, integrating it with existing storage standards presents substantial challenges. Currently, practical experiments in DNA-based storage are limited; highlighting the need for a simulation platform to advance specific algorithms such as compression and error correction. Addressing this gap, our study introduces the first Python-based platform designed specifically for DNA-based data storage. This platform supports robust encoding, storage, and retrieval of digital images while incorporating international image compression standards, including JPEG, JPEG 2000, JPEG XL, and JPEG XT. Overall, this research not only presents a novel DNA-based storage simulation platform but also strives to integrate DNA-based storage with contemporary multimedia standards.
