U-FLOC: Underwater Fresnel Lens based Optical Communication System
Underwater Optical Wireless Communication (UOWC) is considered a promising technology for high-speed communication in underwater applications such as oceanography and marine monitoring. However, practical implementation faces significant challenges. These include the alignment of communication in dynamic underwater environments, interference issues, and communication during motion. In this paper, we propose a plug-in device, U-FLOC, designed to address these challenges. Our approach integrates a Fresnel lens and customized control strategies to optimize transmission by light beam shaping. We present solutions for efficient transmitter search and positioning, real-time adaptive alignment, and dynamic adjustment of communication range and coverage. These contributions significantly enhance the reliability and flexibility of UOWC systems in complex and fluctuating underwater conditions.
