IoT based Integration of Environmental Sensors for Commercial Aquaculture
Maintaining optimal water quality is essential for the growth and health of aquatic organisms in commercial aquaculture. Poor water quality can result in stress, disease, and financial losses, making real-time monitoring critical. This paper presents an automated aquaculture system integrating environmental sensors (ORP, pH, temperature, TDS, and electrical conductivity) with an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module for remote monitoring. The system allows for continuous measurement and real-time display of water quality parameters, accessible through mobile devices, and features a feedback system for automating temperature regulation, feeding, and maintenance. Data collected from sensors is transmitted in real-time to Firebase, acting as the primary control hub, storing data and enabling remote access to parameters. The entire system is powered by a solar-charged battery, making it eco-friendly and resilient to power outages. This approach offers significant advantages over traditional manual methods, optimizing conditions for small to medium-scale aquaculture businesses, enhancing water quality management for improved yield, and promoting sustainable growth through IoT technologies.
