A STUDY ON SPATIAL CONFIGURATION AND SOUND ENVIRONMENT CONSTRUCTION IN LIBRARIES COEXISTING WITH SOUND
The purpose of this study is to indicate the conditions for a library to be a sound library. The survey was conducted from the viewpoints of library operators, users, and noise levels, and the spatial configuration of public libraries can be classified into four types based on the level of sound tolerance: “separate quiet and dynamic,” “mixed quiet and dominant,” “mixed dynamic and dominant,” and “specific quiet and dynamic. For libraries to be sound tolerant, it is necessary to create a sound environment with “buzz” in order to create a cycle in which sound attracts people and creates new sounds.
