STATISTICS ON DETERMINATION OF GALLOPING ONSET AND CRITICAL WIND SPEED BASED ON A NUMEROUS PRACTICAL WIND TUNNEL TEST RESULTS
Numerous practical wind tunnel test reports for high-rise buildings has been compiled. Galloping onset determination was conducted for 160 cases of wind force characteristics. If the judgment is met, the critical wind speed was calculated. For many buildings, the critical wind speed was found to be outside the design wind speed range; however, in some cases, the critical wind speed was within the range. Due to the diversity in the shapes of actual building, predicting the critical wind speed is challenging. Therefore, in wind tunnel tests of buildings undergoing structural performance evaluation, it is essential to galloping onset determination.
