ROBUST DESIGN OF TMDS AGAINST VARIATION OF NATURAL FREQUENCY AND DAMPING VALUES FOR A GABLE ROOF
Based on results of a shaking table test to verify the effect of TMDs for a gable roof using a scaled-down specimen, we studied the robust design of TMDs against variation in both the natural frequency of the specimen and damping values of TMDs through analysis. Our findings indicate that the method of installing multiple TMDs with different natural frequencies is effective. Especially against decrease in the natural frequency, the method of installing two TMDs, one tuned to the natural frequency of control mode and the other to 30% smaller frequency, can be highly robust.
