DEVELOPMENT OF TIMBER JOINTS USING TENSILE BOLTS WITH DISTANTLY SPACED SETS OF NUTS AND WASHERS
Timber joints using tensile bolts with distantly spaced sets of nuts and washers are studied in this paper. Firstly, static loading tests are conducted to grasp the overall behavior. Then 2-D FEM analyses are performed to understand the stress distribution in the timber. Based on the results of the above, a new 1-D model is proposed that well represents the stiffness and the stress distribution of the joint.
