IZ ZOONIMIJE SELA IGROŠ KOD BRUSA

This paper discusses the zoonymy of the Igroš village in the municipality of Brus. The main goal of this paper is to list zoonoms and analyze them from a semantic and structural aspect. The research was conducted in early 2024, and all the material was recorded in the dialect pronunciation of the informants, native speakers of the Kosovo-Resavian dialect. The conducted analysis showed that, from a semantic point of view, in our data, we find examples motivated by: the color of hair or feathers, the appearance of marks and other specific markings on an animal’s body, the appearance of animal body parts, behavior of an animal, the time of maturation and the number of cubs born, the other features of an animal, and zoonyms motivated by other onomastic categories. All recorded zoonyms can be divided into three subcategories according to their structure: animal names created by the process of (trans)onymization, names created by derivation, and compound names. Since the number of animals in this village is decreasing and the names have been recorded based on the memories of informants, we emphasize the importance of continuing the research in question.
