Study on Parameters for Track-Bridge Interaction Analysis Considering Rail Expansion Joints
Rail expansion joints (REJ) installed on bridges are standardized. When greater relative longitudinal rail-bridge displacement occurs due to changes in temperature change, the sleepers placed before and after the rail expansion joints move, resulting in track deformation. Finite element analysis simulating rail expansion joints was performed in this study to assess the impact of the magnitude of longitudinal track resistance, type and layout of rail expansion joints, distance between bridge end and rail expansion joint, installation range of zero longitudinal restraints (ZLR), and installation range of bearer straps (BS) on track-bridge interaction. The results revealed that the application of zero longitudinal restraints together with bearer straps was efficient in preventing track deformation around rail expansion joints.
