A Plan to Rationalize Railway Fare in Consideration of Carbon Dioxide Emission
This study examined the calculation process and current status of railway fare and calculated conversions of carbon dioxide (CO₂) generated during railroad transport services on the basis of the contents stipulated in the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. In addition, it calculated the cost due to carbon emission generated during train operation on the basis of the calculated carbon emission and included this in railway fare, suggesting that service users shoulder the carbon emission cost due to the use of railroad transport services.
