Game‐based learning to promote clinical reasoning in paediatric dentistry
The project presents an innovative approach to fostering critical and analytical thinking during clinical procedures among students of Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics degree programme at the University of Verona.Second-and fifth-year students were questioned about their cognitive processes through two open-ended questions alongside the laboratory practice sessions. The aim was to understand their educational and training needs.Content analysis of their responses indicates that students tend to focus more on procedural steps than reflect on the decision-making process behind their clinical choices. This highlights the need to create more opportunities for reflective thinking in their training experiences.
