WATER MANAGEMENT IN COMPOSTING: GLOBAL PRACTICES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT
Water management in composting is a critical factor for the sustainability and efficiency of waste treatment facilities. This paper analyzes water flows in a domestic composting system and compares the recycling rates with examples from landfills in Germany, the USA, and Japan. By presenting technologies for recycling, purification, and the utilization of atmospheric water, the study explores key differences in approaches and their impact on environmental footprints. The paper offers concrete recommendations for improving the domestic system, based on globally recognized methods.
