NEUTRALIZATION OF SEWAGE SLUDGE POLLUTANTS USING β-DIKETONATE
This study explores the application of an innovative approach for the neutralization of pollutants from sewage sludge, sampled at the Cvetojevac Wastewater Treatment Plant in Kragujevac. The sludge was treated with β-diketonate at different concentrations (50, 100, and 200 mg/mL), and a bioassay method was applied using red clover seeds (Trifolium pratense L.) as a model for germination. The results indicate that the addition of hummus and treatment with synthesized β-diketonate significantly reduced the inhibitory effects of the sludge. The synthesized β-diketonate shows potential for pollutant neutralization in sewage sludge and possible applications in horticulture, agriculture, and environmental pollution control.
