STRUCTURE OF THE FILAMENTOUS BACTERIA COMMUNITY IN MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT AND THEIR INDICATOR SIGNIFICANCE IN BIOLOGICAL REACTORS
The occurrence of "bulking sludge" is a common technological problem that leads to difficult separation of sludge from purified water in the final stage of purification. Although it can be caused by various causes, the swelling of sludge is most often caused by the excessive growth of a group of bacteria with a conical morphology, i.e. filamentous bacteria. This paper presents the results of the dominant presence of filamentous bacteria in activated sludge at a treatment plant managed by PUK "VIK Novi Sad" in the period 2022-2024. in relation to the chemical quality of the influent and the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the biological reactor.
