Effect of six weeks thrower's ten exercise program on throwing accuracy and velocity in recreational cricket players: an experimental study
Background: Cricket places a significant emphasis on throwing. Throughout the course of the match, numerous precise and powerful throws are made. The athlete must be able to throw the ball with power and accuracy from one point of play to the next in order to succeed in cricket. Good technique and the contribution of a number of physical factors, such as core stability, range of motion, limb length, anthropometric measurements, and isokinetic factors, combine to produce an efficient throw. The exercises in the thrower's ten program are best at activating the muscles involved in the throwing motion, so they could be used as part of an athlete's warm up before throwing.Aims & Objectives: To determine effect of 6 weeks thrower’s ten exercise on improving overhead throwing velocity and accuracy in recreational cricket players. To find out the effectiveness of thrower’s ten exercise program in throwing velocity among cricket players. To find out the effectiveness of thrower’s ten exercise program in throwing accuracy among cricket players Method: Total 60 subjects were included in this study and were randomly divided in three groups. Group A performed thrower’s ten exercise and group B performed their regular training program. Result: Analysis of present study was done using paired sample t-test for within group analysis and independent t-test for between group analyses. The result of this study for experimental group shows significant improvement in throwing velocity p= 0.000 and throwing accuracy p=0.015, throwing velocity p= 0.005 and throwing accuracy p=0.041 for within group analysis and between group analysis respectively. Conclusion: This study concludes that 6 weeks of Thrower’s ten exercise group showed significant improvement in overhead throwing velocity and accuracy compared to control groups
