Research Progress of Gal-3 and Chemerin in Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease mortality worldwide, and its severity cannot be overstated. In recent years, studies have demonstrated that Galectin-3 (Gal-3) and Chemerin, as two important cardiovascular biomarkers, have garnered significant attention in CHD research. Gal-3 plays an important role in coronary atherosclerosis and plaque stability. It influences the occurrence and development of coronary heart disease by regulating inflammatory reaction, cell proliferation and apoptosis. Chemerin participates in the development of coronary heart disease by regulating lipid metabolism, inflammatory reaction and vascular endothelial function. In this study, we reviewed the basic characteristics of Gal-3 and Chemerin and their mechanisms of action in coronary heart disease, and discussed their potential application value in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis evaluation of coronary heart disease, to provide new ideas and methods for the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease.
