Abstract

Today, in the context of socio-economic transformations, both associated with a high level of stress among workers and social tension in society, and due to increased demands on specialists in their professional path, the problem of emotional burnout syndrome among social workers is of particular relevance. Namely, socioeconomic (helping) professions of the «person-to-person» type, in which systematic interaction between a specialist and his clients predominates. Their representatives in the field of social work are most at risk of developing psycho-emotional disorders and psychological disorders due to the specifics of the duties they perform. It is worth noting that this issue is also given importance at the international level. Thus, the World Health Organization included burnout syndrome in the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases, which is updated to reflect the realities of the 21st century and reflects critical advances in the progress of science and medicine, thereby officially recognizing it as a disease in a professional context. The theoretical basis of the work was the main provisions of the works of domestic and foreign authors on the problem of the development of emotional burnout in the social sphere. The substantiation of theoretical positions and the argumentation of the main conclusions were carried out on the basis of the method of analyzing scientific literature on the topic under study, and the tabular method of grouping data. Sociological information was obtained using the method of secondary analysis of sociological research, applied to study the characteristics of burnout based on its analysis in social practice. Indeed, burnout syndrome is a complex psychophysiological phenomenon caused by a response to stress and negative experiences due to a discrepancy between the spheres of professional and personal activity, as a result of prolonged interaction with people over a certain period of time, accompanied by psychophysiological exhaustion and performing a protective function.
