L’importance changeante de l’analogie
Analogy is one of the most frequently used terms in the history of linguistics. However, the meaning of the notion differed considerably over the centuries. Consequently, the role that analogy was thought to play in language change also differed substantially. In the first parts of this paper emphasis is on the history of the term analogy, whereas in the final part it will be demonstrated how analogy in its modern sense can be used successfully when applied to non-morphemic word formation.
