THE “ZERO WASTE CITY” TOOL IN THE WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN TERRITORIAL COMMUNITIES
This paper examines the necessity of waste management in general, and specifically at the level of territorial communities. It is noted that the waste management hierarchy includes: waste prevention; preparing for re-use; recycling; recovery; and disposal. It is emphasized that the implementation of these processes should cover all levels – from national and local to each individual household. For territorial communities striving to create an effective waste management system, it is advisable to familiarize themselves with the «Zero Waste City» program.
