The article describes the theoretical aspects of strategizing the import substitution in the agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, as well as the state measures that affect the ongoing economic processes. The current agro-industrial production capacity grows while the dependence on imported products and raw materials goes down. The export potential and volume of agro-industrial products continue to increase. A certain dependence on export persists, but the government strives to improve the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex.
