CONSERVATIVE RESPONSE TO MIGRATION CHALLENGES AND PRESERVATION OF EUROPEAN IDENTITY IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
The article explicates the key theoretical positions of the conservative reaction to the migration processes of recent decades, and provides a generalized view of the foundation of European identity in the context of the ideology of conservatism. The author emphasizes the actualization of right-wing and conservative discourse both in the electoral processes of European states and in the intellectual environment of contemporary European thinkers. The author postulates the civilizational and social non-relatedness of two local identities: Muslim immigrants and Christian Europeans. The conservative criticism of the modern policy of multiculturalism is analyzed, its key problems are identified in the context of preserving European identity, which is concretized in the phenomena of inclusiveness, the policy of atonement and the existential threat of erosion of European values.
