THE PROBLEM OF «SELF» IN THE PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
In the article, the author reveals that «self» is the fundamental principle of the existential unity of the personality – as sense of being and fulfillment. «Self» is also presented in terms of self-regulation processes: self-knowledge, self-determination, self-awareness, self-realization, self-affirmation, etc. In certain processes, «personality» and «self» appear as interconnected and mutually conditioned phenomena. The «personality» development and the «self» revelation are moments of their acmeological development. The personality is social quality of human being. And this quality has development level: from a minimal personality (awareness of one’s «I») to an author’s, creative personality. Personality develops with the help of its subjectivity – activity: the ability to make life choices, act socially, take responsibility for these choices. The need for self-knowledge, self-actualization, self-realization and other phenomena grows with the expansion of person’s knowledge about the world and about him / herself, as well as the development of subjective capabilities and the complexity of tasks. «Self» can be defined as a single attribute – the person’s ability to self-realization, self-change in the restoration and expansion / development of his / her abilities / opportunities and needs. The types of fundamental (activity) subjectivity and existence arising from the subject core of socially and spiritually mature personality are forms of being, as well as its actualization. To be a subject means to be the initiator of one’s own activity («self»). Through this subjectivity, personality is expressed, tested and realized. The author’s «subject personality» is the integral and coherent agent. Every «normal» personality is endowed with a desire for development. The acmeological personality has highly developed «self» mechanisms: self-knowledge, self-evaluation, self-relationship, self-actualization. Such personality is flow of social time. It creates «human world» at the individual level of social existence. This is a person who embodies the essence of humanity in a post-industrial society.
