Correlation effects mediated by disorders in one-dimensional channels
We report nonlinear transport in one-dimensional quantum wires formed in a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure. The two-terminal conductance characteristics were investigated under varying electron concentrations with and without a large in-plane magnetic field of 10 T. One important observation was that the 0.7-like feature was identified at higher-order subbands, specifically <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><a:mrow><a:mo>∼</a:mo><a:mn>1.6</a:mn><a:msub><a:mi mathvariant="normal">G</a:mi><a:mn>0</a:mn></a:msub></a:mrow></a:math>, <c:math xmlns:c="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><c:mrow><c:mo>∼</c:mo><c:mn>3.7</c:mn><c:msub><c:mi mathvariant="normal">G</c:mi><c:mn>0</c:mn></c:msub></c:mrow></c:math>, and <e:math xmlns:e="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><e:mrow><e:mo>∼</e:mo><e:mn>4.7</e:mn><e:msub><e:mi mathvariant="normal">G</e:mi><e:mn>0</e:mn></e:msub></e:mrow></e:math>. Additionally, our findings reveal the emergence of two conductance states appearing below <g:math xmlns:g="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><g:mrow><g:msup><g:mrow><g:mi mathvariant="normal">e</g:mi></g:mrow><g:mn>2</g:mn></g:msup><g:mo>/</g:mo><g:mi mathvariant="normal">h</g:mi></g:mrow></g:math> under large dc bias voltage, where these states become more pronounced together with higher 0.7-like features, as electron concentration decreases, highlighting the influence of strong correlation effects in their formation. The weak Zeeman splitting in the ground state despite a large in-plane magnetic field of 10 T in low-density and weakly confined regime indicates disordered-induced correlation effects dominating the mechanism.
