Improving dental implant outcomes using 3D surgical guides
To achieve optimal clinical outcomes, a digital workflow was developed for the guided implantology protocol, aiming to streamline dental implant placement procedures. Digital planning of implant placement facilitates precise diagnostic assessment of the anatomical site intended for implant insertion. This approach confers notable clinical advantages, including reduced rates of intraoperative and postoperative complications, as well as shorter operative times. Collectively, these benefits contribute to enhanced patient satisfaction and improved treatment acceptance. A 50-years-old female patient presented herself to the clinic for the rehabilitation of 3 edentulous spaces in quadrants II, III and IV. After presenting all the possible treatment plans to the patient, she agreed to an implant-prosthetic treatment plan for all 3 edentulous spaces. For this case, the placement of the dental implants was done using tissue-supported 3D printed surgical guides that replicate the ideal position of the implants which was determined using the data from the Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). The results of this case demonstrate an increased level of accuracy in dental implants placement using the 3D-printed surgical guide.
