Heat and Health in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area: Bringing together Researchers, Decision-Makers, and Public Engagement Experts

What: A collaboration between researchers, local government and an urban design think tank brought together around 40 local experts working on climate-induced urban heating and its health implications in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. The workshop sought to balance academic and practitioner knowledge from experts working in research, public policy, and public engagement. A world café format was used to generate a collection of existing lines of work, and to build on existing capacities to create potential areas for collaboration between different actors. Judged a success by participants, the intention is to repeat the meeting periodically to raise mutual awareness of the variety of work and expertise and strengthen the collaboration between those working to combat heat-health challenges locally. When: 21 November 2024 Where: Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Barcelona
