Identification of a Possible Supernova Remnant in Pegasus

Abstract The census of galactic supernova remnants (SNRs) is largely incomplete due to the intrinsic short duration of these structures and to the low luminosity of the oldest ones. We investigated by ultra-deep narrow-band imaging a particular nebular filament easily detectable in wide-field photos. The presence of weak emission in [O iii ] and the presence of two pulsars nearby, suggests that it could be an ancient SNR at the galactic coordinates G82.9–29.2, to be confirmed with new follow-up observations.
