Threshold increment-based dynamic glare measurement method for intelligent transportation systems
Aiming at the deficiencies of the current threshold increment method in measuring dynamic glare, this paper analyzes the evaluation criteria of the threshold increment and identifies the essential components influencing its change, such as luminance information and position data. A dynamic glare measurement method based on threshold increment is proposed, tailored for intelligent transportation systems (ITS). An experimental measurement system is developed, which utilizes an image collector to capture environmental image data. The system acquires image brightness and three-dimensional coordinate information using image brightness calibration and the visual characteristics of a binocular camera. The threshold increment for each single-frame image is calculated according to the evaluation criteria, and the detection frequency of the system is estimated based on the computational time of each module. Experimental results demonstrate that the detection frequency of the proposed dynamic glare measurement system can reach 7.67Hz. Compared with traditional detection methods, this system offers faster detection speed, dynamic adaptability, and intelligent features, making it suitable for real-time glare measurement in dynamic traffic environments, meeting the practical needs of ITS applications.
