THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THEORY AND PRACTICE OF SOCIAL WORK
The existence and development of any profession or discipline requires a theoretical foundation. As an independent profession and discipline, the knowledge system of social work is a mixture of various theories of social sciences and on this basis continuously develops its unique concepts and theoretical models in accordance with the development of practice. These theories, tested in practice, are then used to explain, analyze, and even guide problems, needs, and situations in professional practice, thereby improving the social functions of individuals and groups. Therefore, the development of a practical-oriented social work profession cannot be separated from the support of a professional theoretical base. At the same time, the development of practical work constantly enriched the theoretical basis of the profession and had a further impact on the development of practical work. These complementary and mutually reinforcing relationships have allowed the social work profession to continue to evolve and improve.
