Research on the Calibration Method for Quantum Vector Magnetometers Based on Fixed-Point Hovering

Diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center magnetometers, with their high sensitivity, wide dynamic range, and high orthogonality in vector measurement, exhibit significant potential for applications in aeromagnetic surveys. However, all aeromagnetic survey systems are affected by the static and dynamic magnetic fields generated by the carrier platform itself, introducing interference into aeromagnetic measurements. This study proposes a calibration flight method based on fixed-point hovering, combined with the Tolles-Lawson (T-L) mathematical model, to compensate for carrier-induced interference in the diamond NV magnetometer-based aeromagnetic survey system. Compared with traditional calibration flight methods, this approach minimizes the measurement area to ensure a stable ambient magnetic field and collects magnetic field data through multiple attitude variations in hovering mode, thereby reducing gradient effects during calibration flights as much as possible. Furthermore, during the calculation of compensation coefficients, we investigate the impact of ridge regression parameters on the compensation results. Ultimately, the proposed method effectively suppresses carrier-induced interference in NV magnetometer based aeromagnetic measurements, yielding more stable corrected magnetic survey data.
