Research on Improved Single-ended Fault Location Algorithm for High-Voltage Transmission Line

High-voltage transmission lines are crucial in power systems. Their fault location technology is vital for power restoration and grid stability. This paper explores enhanced single-ended fault location algorithms for high-voltage transmission lines. It first notes the limitations of traditional algorithms, especially errors in long-distance and high-voltage scenarios. Then, considering distributed parameters, it proposes improved algorithms for both double-circuit and single-circuit lines. For double-circuit lines, a new model using negative-sequence components and specific current relationships accounts for electromagnetic coupling. For single-circuit lines, fault boundary conditions are introduced with an improved nonlinear equation-solving method to boost accuracy. Simulation results prove the algorithms' reliability and accuracy, offering new approaches for high-voltage transmission line fault location.
