A Multi-mode Mobile Phone Back Cover Antenna

This article proposes a method to increase antenna bandwidth using the multi-mode theory of microstrip antennas. Place a parasitic patch near a planar inverted F antenna (PIFA), excite the main patch through a coaxial probe, and excite the parasitic patch through coupling. Ultimately, the antenna bandwidth is increased through the same direction current patterns and reverse current patterns on the main and parasitic patches.

Abstract

This article proposes a method to increase antenna bandwidth using the multi-mode theory of microstrip antennas. Place a parasitic patch near a planar inverted F antenna (PIFA), excite the main patch through a coaxial probe, and excite the parasitic patch through coupling. Ultimately, the antenna bandwidth is increased through the same direction current patterns and reverse current patterns on the main and parasitic patches.
