Research on Satellite Communication System Design and Verification of Civil Aircraft
With the development of satellite communication (SATCOM) in aviation industry, satellite communication is used more and more widely in civil aircrafts. SATCOM is composed of different airborne equipment and has complex interconnections with other airborne systems, like Inertial Reference System (IRS), Global Position System (GPS), Radio Tuning System, Audio Integrating System, etc. It is a challenge for aircraft integrators to ensure each part of SATCOM system can be designed appropriate to fulfill its intended function according to limitations specified (like Antennas) without any interference with the other airborne systems. Meanwhile, the airworthiness process should also be taken into account after the satellite communication system has been installed, to show the design features can meet the expected provisions. This paper analyzes the airworthiness provisions and provides compliance approaches and activities of satellite communication system after being installed, from the system description, architectural analysis and the aural and visual alerts design, which provides guidance for the design and verification of satellite communication systems of civil aircrafts.
