Symbol Timing Synchronization Scheme of AIS multi-source fusion system based on Improved Zero-Crossing Algorithm

A novel symbol timing synchronization scheme of Automatic Identification System (AIS) multi-source fusion system based on improved zero-crossing algorithm is proposed, and the performances of BER, frequency offset and phase offset on AIS multi-source fusion system is analyzed. The simulation results show that, the BER without timing recovery is terrible and becomes heavier as the timing offset increases. Compared with the binary decision, the improved zero crossing algorithm has smaller variation range of the timing error and better performance. Compared with Gardner algorithm, the improved zero crossing algorithm has better performance without increasing complexity, and the advantage is more obvious when the frequency offset increases.
