Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm-Based Primary Frequency Regulation Efficacy Improvement Method of Renewable Energy Plants
With the rapid development of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), bringing the impact of uncertainty and inertia reduction to the system, at the same time, the RES power generation plants highly power electronic makes it has high controllability, so that its participation in frequency regulation becomes possible. However, there are fewer studies on how to assess the Primary Frequency Regulation Efficacy (PFRE) of RES participating in Primary Frequency Regulation (PFR) and how to improve the frequency regulation efficacy of RES. In this paper, the research on renewable energy PFRE is carried out, renewable energy PFRE evaluation index is constructed, and the contribution of renewable energy frequency regulation plants to system frequency support is comprehensively reflected, and a renewable energy plants PFRE improvement method based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed, which improves the contribution of renewable energy PFR by adjusting the parameters of the frequency controller of renewable energy plants and improves the frequency response performance of the system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulation of the modified IEEE 39-bus test system.
