Representative Constraint-Based Fast Identification Method for Redundant Security Constraints in Power System Operation
Security constraints are a critical category of constraints that must be considered in power system operation. In practical operation, there exists a large number of redundant security constraints that do not impact the optimization results but significantly reduce computational efficiency. To relief the calculational burden, this paper presents a fast identification method for redundant security constraints. The proposed identification model is constructed based on the representative constraints of all the original security constraints, considering N - k contingencies. The method in this paper could well balance the identification effectiveness and efficiency. Simulation experiments are performed on the IEEE 24-bus and IEEE 118-bus test systems. The numerical results show that the accuracy of proposed method is close to that of the necessary and sufficient conditions of redundant constraint identification, while the computation complexity of the proposed method is much lower.
