Magneto-Thermal Coupling Characteristic Analysis of Switched Reluctance Motor for Actuation System of Aircraft Electric Braking
This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the magneto-thermal coupling characteristics of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) designed for the electromechanical actuation system of aircraft electric braking. The SRM, due to its robust construction and high torque-to-inertia ratio, has been identified as a suitable candidate for such applications. However, considering the harsh environment during aircraft braking, ensuring its thermal performance and stability under high power and temperature conditions is crucial for reliable operation. This paper establishes a magneto-thermal coupling model for SRM using finite element method (FEM), the changes in SRM temperature caused by iron and copper losses within the motor are analyzed, the variations in structural dimensional parameters under the influence of the temperature and their effects on motor performance are further examined. This paper provides a reference for motor design and evaluation, contributing to the development of more efficient, reliable, and temperature-compliant switched reluctance motors (SRMs) in aircraft electric braking.
