Engineering Application of Modularization Concept in Aircraft EWIS Design
To maintain a competitive advantage in the aviation market, continuous optimization and upgrades are essential throughout the entire aircraft lifecycle. Factors such as evolving regulatory requirements, emerging customer-specific demands, iterative technological advancements, the need for multiple-source suppliers, and improvements and modifications in design contribute to the frequent changes in Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) products. The pressing challenge is how to mitigate the impact of these EWIS product changes on design configurations, batch production, and airline operations. The modular development of EWIS begins during the early phases of aircraft model design and involves the harmonization of functional and physical installation design. This approach leverages modular design principles, including main channel design, the disconnect design, the subdivision of EWIS design zones (EDZ), and EWIS Integrated Design. This methodology facilitates the rapid detachment and connection of modules. By implementing EWIS modular technology, parallel development is possible, ultimately reducing the need for late-stage design modifications and shortening the overall assembly timeline.
