Control strategy of Islanded Wind Farms Connected to LCC-HVDC
A cooperative control approach based on STATCOM is recommended for islanded wind farms that are linked to LCC-HVDC. On the AC bus side of LCC-HVDC, STATCOM is configured to stabilize the AC bus voltage of LCC-HVDC by utilizing its reactive power regulation capability. STATCOM also uses grid-forming control to supply a voltage reference for the isolated wind farms' operation and a phase-change voltage for the LCC-HVDC rectifiers to ensure the normal phase-change. The islanded wind farm's active power is tracked in real time by the LCC-HVDC for active outgoing power. The efficiency of the suggested control technique was confirmed using PSCAD/EMTDC electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations.
