Current Stress Minimization for DAB Converters using DPS Modulation
In response to the issues of excessive current stress and high reverse power in dual active bridge (DAB) converters under conventional single-phase shift (SPS) control, this paper proposes a current stress minimization control strategy based on dual-phase shift (DPS). By optimizing the switching strategy, the proposed method effectively reduces current stress, enhances system efficiency, and increases the system’s power capacity. The study commences with comparative analysis of single-phase-shift (SPS) and dual-phase-shift (DPS) operational characteristics, followed by formulation of a constrained optimization framework using Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) criteria to address current stress minimization, through which the Pareto-optimal configuration of internal/external phase-shift parameters is derived. Finally, the proposed methodology is experimentally validated through MATLAB/Simulink-based numerical simulations, with results confirming that the optimized modulation scheme achieves simultaneous reduction in RMS current magnitude and conduction losses.
