Design of Erbium-doped Fiber Amplifier based on Super L band

With the sustained growth of network traffic, the demand for optical fiber communication capacity continues to rise, driving the expansion of transmission spectra into C+L bands. In this context, Super L band transmission has emerged, yet research on corresponding erbium-doped fiber amplifiers remains scarce. To address this issue, this paper designs a multistage amplified EDFA specifically for the Super L band. Furthermore, a temperature compensation method is proposed to resolve gain slope variations in high and low temperature environments ranging from -10°C to 65°C. Experimental results indicate that with 1 dBm input power, the proposed EDFA achieves 22 dB gain and 23 dBm output power, demonstrating gain flatness and gain ripple below 0.6 dB, along with a noise figure under 8.3 dB. The gain slope remains nearly 0 dB across the operational temperature range, accompanied by minimal spectral variations.
