Imapcts of GIS conductor surface protrusions on decomposition characteristics of SF6/N2 gas mixtures
In these years, SF6/N2 gas mixtures have been a favorable alternative to the SF6 gas and gained broad popularity in industrial electrical equipment. To find a feasible solution to the maintenance of SF6/N2 gas insulation electrical equipment, this study, by simulating the electrical conductor surface protrusions, experimentally investigated the decomposition characteristics of the SF6/N2 gas mixtures under varied discharge durations, voltages, and discharge intensities. It was found that when surface protrusions occur on the conductor, the main decomposition products of the SF6/N2 gas mixture include SO2F2, N2O, NF3, and CF4, each presenting different patterns of changes as the experiment conditions vary. The research findings will help the electrical power system maintenance staff to quickly identify and assess the insulation defects within the SF6/N2 electrical equipment.
