Optimization of OR-PMSM Starting Strategy in Logistics Transportation Systems

In logistics transportation systems, outer-rotor permanent magnet synchronous motor predominantly operates under constant-speed conditions. Conventional I/F pull-in methods with offline-configured current references and angular frequency acceleration parameters remain adequate for motor starting, yet prove insufficient in addressing frequent load variations and loaded start-up requirements inherent in logistics operations. This paper proposes an enhanced I/F starting strategy incorporating dual-frequency compensation loops to mitigate inherent speed oscillations caused by insufficient damping and reduce convergence time during speed stabilization. A current vector angle controller is integrated to autonomously regulate current acceleration during acceleration phases and maintain optimal current amplitude in steady-state operation, thereby minimizing start-up duration and motor losses. Furthermore, an amplitude-current-controller-based spatial switching strategy is developed, demonstrating superior performance over conventional direct switching approaches through reduced instantaneous speed drop and current distortion during transition intervals, consequently enhancing system stability. Experimental validation on a 240W OR-PMSM prototype confirms the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
