Development and Analysis of Power Balancing Control for nWTG in Secondary Distribution System
Effective energy management through advanced control techniques is essential for optimizing microgrid performance. Most existing control strategies primarily focus on generating gate signals to operate power electronic devices. Power electronic systems facilitate energy distribution and load sharing among multiple sources, adapting to dynamic load variations. However, renewable energy sources, especially nano Wind Turbine Generators (nWTGs), exhibit intermittent behavior, with some regions experiencing low wind speeds. Conventional control methods are commonly employed to maximize energy extraction from nWTGs. In a DC microgrid, power balancing techniques help regulate energy flow, ensuring that the power supplied by sources aligns with overall demand. This study develops and simulates a power balance control model for an nWTG-based microgrid using MATLAB/SIMULINK, incorporating two energy sources and a variable load. The simulation evaluates the linear relationship between bus voltage and reference current in response to varying load conditions. Implementing power balance control enhances the efficiency and reliability of microgrid operations.
