FIRST DIETARY RECORDS FOR Erythrolamprus guentheri (COLUBRIDAE): OPHIOPHAGY OF Tantilla melanocephala (COLUBRIDAE)
Ophiophagy in snakes is a relatively common and well-documented behavior. Some species of the genus Erythrolamprus have ophiophagous tendencies. We report the first evidence of the diet of E. guentheri, with two predation events on Tantilla melanocephala. These new records represent the two first cases of ophiophagy of T. melanocephala by E. guentheri, increasing the knowledge about the natural history of both snakes. Furthermore, this work is an example of collaboration between national organizations and the participation of local people.
