DOA estimation method based on improved FOCUSS for airborne radar system with crab angle

In recent years, direction of arrival (DOA) estimation based on compressed sensing (CS) has attracted lots of attention in radar field. Previous works only investigate the scenario of ideal antenna array. However, for airborne radar system with crab angle, the estimation performance of those algorithms degrades severely due to basis mismatch. In this paper, we consider the crab angle and propose a DOA estimation method based on improved focal underdetermined system solver (FOCUSS). The proposed method combines the crab angle and DOA to construct a two-dimensional dictionary, and then utilizes the improved FOCUSS algorithm to sparsely represent the received signals to achieve DOA estimation. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can accurately estimate DOA with a single snapshot in the presence of crab angle and has low computational complexity.
