Los BRICS y la revolución tecno-productiva en la transición del sistema mundial
In 2014, investment in research and development worldwide skyrocketed, as a result of the techno-productive revolution underway and the exacerbation of economic, political and strategic competition in a world system in crisis and transition of hegemonies. The BRICS, a group made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, articulate continental powers located in the semi-periphery of the world system that seek to break the monopolies and barriers to development established by the Global North. To this end, two of the key spaces they dispute are scientific-technological development and the generation of advanced industries. This article analyzes these phenomena, pointing out the scientific-technological growth of the BRICS, their strategic capabilities and the initiatives and cooperation processes among them. It suggests that the expansion of this group of countries opens new opportunities for more nations of the Global South to benefit from the cooperative dynamics generated and to take advantage of these opportunities in science, technology and innovation.
