FROM VISION TO REALITY: NEP 2020 AND THE FUTURE OF INDIAN HIGHER EDUCATION
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a visionary document by the Government of India, has sparked a paradigm shift in the way higher education is conceptualized, delivered, and evaluated in India. The policy recognizes that quality higher education is critical for developing the intellectual, social, emotional, and ethical capacities of individuals, thereby contributing to national development. NEP 2020 envisions a complete revamp of the higher education landscape, with specific emphasis on leadership development, structured mentorship, continuous faculty upskilling, and the integration of digital pedagogy and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS). This paper explores how the NEP 2020 serves as a catalyst for transforming higher education in India through strategic initiatives such as the MMTTP, LEAP, and faculty-centric interventions.
