Demographic changes taking place in Russia outline complex tasks in finding ways to influence the process of reproduction of the population. The current situation in the demographic sphere is directly related to the inevitable evolutionary changes, socio-economic and political transformations. One of the important demographic processes affecting the reproduction of the population is marriage. In recent decades, there have been changes to the institution of marriage, such as the growth of unregistered marriages, the emergence of new types of marriage (trial marriage, guest or as it is also called - weekend marriage, marriage at a distance), transformation of the spiritual and moral values of the family. The article is a statistical study of the marriage rate in the Russian Federation for the period from 2012 to 2022. During the study, the age of the grooms and brides is analyzed, and the average age of marriage is determined. The article also discusses the reasons for the decrease or increase in the marriage rate and provides possible social and economic factors affecting this level. The subject of the research in the article is the level of marriage in the Russian Federation. The relevance of this study is that the institution of marriage is constantly undergoing changes related to socio-economic factors. The dynamics requires periodic observations based on which an analysis is carried out to obtain information and draw conclusions about the demographic situation in the country, as well as to assess the current state of this institution. The authors examine the level of marriage in the Russian Federation, and also highlight the main trends and changes over the past ten years.
